About Chordvine
* The only proof he needed for the existence of God was Music *
-Kurt Vonnegut
Welcome to Chordvine, an online music neighborhood, where there are no strangers.
Chordvine is an online music magazine which is crazy enough to think that it can change the world. And we would never be able to do that without you.
But this is about more than being a hippy or waiting for revolutions. It is, like the Coltrane of politics, our very own Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see”. The mainstream music scene today, for lack of better rhetoric, is stale.
Despite volcanic growth in media as well as high penetration of the internet in India people are still exposed only to the limited music that suits and Bollywood decide people should listen to. We not only cover the popular household names, but even the more obscure, but other worthy under rated gems, from Hindustani classical to Rock, from Jazz to Metal and everything in between.
The Indian scene, though relatively nascent outside of Bollywood, has a lot of action going on that mostly goes by unreported and unsung. So, in an effort to encourage upcoming bands and to highlight and give the veterans the respect they deserve, we’re covering them too!
In fact, anything that sounds good will be reviewed, from Zappa’s sessions to your college band’s covers. And we also keep you updated on the local, the national and the global scene with our succinct dispatches. Add to that of course our insightful video interviews of the local denizens of music and the oh-so scrumptious articles we publish.
We’ve got some really amazing things planned for the next few months and since someone asked, Chordvine was started on the 8th of March this year.
