For 13 years now, D-Nox has blitzed the techno scene worldwide with such a wide array of gigs, spanning every latitude and longitude, that he isn’t merely any German technomeister. His career is electrifying, both as a DJ and live act/producer partner to his long time friend Beckers.
His sound is every bit the eclectic and so much more than a regular percussive synthetic 140-bpm run-of-the-mill techno that DJs may fall prey to some time, and ranges from progressive and tech house, infusing lush and ethereal sounds—organic—sounds and that raw aggressive tech sound that is just so danceable.
I’ve been awed by this man’s talent and the ability to make random non-EDM’ers dance wildly to a rather niche genre in techno a few years ago at Bombay 72 East (ahem ahem) and the set at the Frog was every bit the energetic, pulsating and bubbling with lush breakdowns, quirky stage presence and that crazy, crazy bassline.
Gems from the D-Nox and Beckers production stable glittered the set with the awesome ‘Left Behind’ and remixes of ‘333’, ‘Mira Negra’, ‘Dogtown (PURE MADNESS)’ and of course the infectiously famous mix of Lutzenkirchen’s ‘Paperboy’.
All in all, a bloody good night with plenty of new tracks, a fresher set and some of the funniest quirks you’ve ever seen from a DJ, D-Nox is just a class apart in every sense of the word.
