NBC’s drama, Heroes has released a soundtrack album featuring among other, Bob Dylan, represented by “Man in the Long Black Coat.”
The album also includes a yet undisclosed track from “Oh Mercy”, Dylan’s revered 1989 album. Heroes executive producer Allan Arkush considered it quite a blessing, citing Dylan’s representatives are extremely choosy about licensing rights of his songs.
Heroes creator Tim Kring hadd previously worked with the Dylan camp on one of their earlier series, ‘Crossing Jordan’, and this precedent would sure have helped.
The release, scheduled for March 18 will include exclusive new singles from the likes of Wilco ( Glad Its Over ), Panic! at the Disco ( Nine in the Afternoon ), Imogen Heap ( Not Now but Soon ) and Brighton Port Authority ft. Iggy Pop ( He’s Frank ). The Heroes fan forums are teeming with speculation over the finale track for the third season of ‘Heroes’, and man are hoping it would be a Dylan Exclusive.
Heroes would also be releasing five video montage podcasts, featuring Heroes teaser footage set to the tracks from the album. These will be available through the Zune store, and as streamed media via MSN. The Apple and NBC fallout has cut off the iTunes Store from such goodies.
Nada Surf’s ‘Weightless’ will be the first video available, coming out tonight.
Dylan’s tones and Hiro Nakamura fighting it out with new nemesis from Season Three. What more could a true fan ask from a teaser ? Much less a deck of 5.
