Mclaughlin at BlueFrog this 23rd
Virtuoso guitarist and the big kahuna of jazz fusion John Mclaughlin will be performing in Bombay, on June 23rd which is from 9 to 12 p.m. at Blue Frog for the release of his new album Floating Point, which is to be released in India by Blue Frog records. The tickets are priced at Rs 1000 for standing and Rs 2000 for the pods. Word is that he will be jamming with other mind blowing musicians like Ranjit Barot, Louis Banks and Dhruv Ghanekar. Floating Point is Mclaughlin’s latest studio album, where he collaborates with leading Indian musicans such as Barot, Louis Banks, U. Rajesh, Shankar Mahadevan and Niladri Kumar.
Over the past 40 years, the prolific guitarist-composer has amassed a catalogue of recordings that is staggering for its sheer output, uncompromising artistry and uncanny diversity. And he has never stopped growing and changing, exploring different modes of expression, interacting with new artists in his lifelong search for the elusive sound of surprise. McLaughlin still thrives on that essential give-and-take between musicians that fuels the music and stirs our souls. And doubtless, this will be the case in this not-to-be missed gig.
Naina Pakiza is an aspiring journo and a pianist. Though her choice of instrument is strictly classical she's been rumored to have been a Britney fan. But like she says, thats all ancient history, its been all Tchaikovsky, Rossini and Bellini since she turned 15.1 Comment
