One Tree Festival 2009 - Details

The annual One Tree Festivals, have provided Indian music fans some of the best concerts in the recent past. A couple of months ago, it was heard that the 2009 edition wouldn’t be happening due to the withdrawal of sponsors. But, the new year has brought with it a breeze of good luck, as this year’s festival is back on track even though it must just be a poorer version of its predecessors.

The festival will take place only in Mumbai, in contrast to previous festivals which took place in multiple cities. The two day event starting on the 7th of february and playing on till the next evening, would feature only two acts, blues musician Bernard Allison on the first day, and Latin music’s own Chico & The Gypsies on the second.

Bernard is a blues guitarist from the United States, and is the proud son of the Blues legend Luther Allison. Chico on the other hand is more familiar figure, and is the mastermind behind the joyously brilliant band, The Gypsy Kings.

Inspite of the slimmed down event, music lovers should definitely show their solidarity with the organisers and make it a point to attend the event, so that we can have many more One Tree Festivals in years to come.

The event will take place at the Lands End Hotel in Bandra, a change from the usual MMRDA grounds. See you there.
