Richard Bona, one of the world’s foremost Jazz bassists is performing in Bombay courtesy Chivas & Blue Frog. (Hooray for booze companies for supporting jazz & blues in Bombay!) Apart from the bass Bona is also a much acclaimed vocalist. As a musician he’s been all over the place - both geographically and musically. A Cameroonian by birth, he was born into a family of musicians. Bona assembled his first Jazz band at 13 as a guitarist, and the influence of Jaco Pastorius (of Weather report) made him switch to the Bass Guitar. He migrated to Germany at 22, and then to France to further his music studies. Since 1995, he has been settled in New York. His rather eclectic style blends a horde of influences, including jazz, bossa nova, pop, afro-beat, traditional song and funk, which makes him at once a multi dimensional and universal musician.
