Last year, The Rock In India festival created history by bringing down not one but two heavyweights of the Metal world, Megadeth and Machinehead. This year’s edition too promises to keep this spirits high. Headlining the 2009 version of the event, would be the now familiar British legends Iron Maiden, who would be supported by ten other bands.
The event would be similar in style and organisation as last years, being an all day event boasting of a snack bar, a bar, a bungee jumping unit, a tatoo stall and some other miscellaneous activities apart from the great music ofcourse. The list of participating bands includes more International names than last year, featuring artists such as De-Profundis, Cyanide Serenity, Brandon Ashley & The Silver Bugs and Lauren Harris the British vocalist who supported Iron Maiden on their 2007 tour of India.
The Indian line-up includes veterans in the Indian scene Parikrama, Bangalore based alternative band Synaps, Mumbai Metalfreaks Pin Drop Violence, Melodic Metal band Kryptos, the Vonamor Band and the winner of the Campus Rock Idols.
The event is going to be staged at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore, and is scheduled to take place on the 15th of February. The tickets for the event are now on sale and are going for Rs. 1,600 each.

Could not make it for the Maiden concert this year. I just want to know whether there are any other bands that are going to show up this year besides Maiden..

It’s appalling that bands that are way past their prime choose to visit India. How about some cool Indie or alternative bands visiting India?

“some cool Indie…..band”
No such thing, my friend, as a cool indie band. They’re a good indie band, and then they’re mainstream.
