 South Asian Music Heritage Month at the Small World FestivalThis May, we’ll see the sixth round of celebration of South Asian Music at the Small World Music Festival, Toronto, Canada.  The festival is organized by the Small World Music Society, a non- profit seeking organization which aims to break down cultural gaps through the power of music. More than a decade old, the Organization has brought together artist big and small, traditional and contemporary to perform at their events.

This year’s line up stars Tabla Maestro Zakir Hussain and the Gundecha Brothers- Umakant and Ramakant. Canadian-Indian Bageshree Vaze will sing and perform her Kathak dance along with husband Vineet joining her on the Tabla. Abhijit Pohankar son of legend Pandit Ajay Pohankar will be making his World Music debut this year. Also on the list are Indo-Jazz bands Tasa, Monsoon and Autorickshaw.
