Stupid Ditties II
The Indian Rock Scene is pretty much dominated by metal - be it Thrash, Death, Goth or any other sub-genre. There aren’t too many alternative/grunge or classic rock bands as such (No, not those cover bands! We’re talking about originality here) and even if they’re there, there’s a small percentage of people that’ve heard them or even of them.
So this year, ennui.BOMBĀ in collaboration with Counter Culture Records present to you Stupid Ditties II. The brain-child behind all of this, Rishu Singh promises great UN-METAL tracks that will blow your mind with two songs by bands whose names he refuses to disclose…so you’ve got to buy the album to find out who!
Stupid Ditties is an annual compilation of songs by some of the best talent the Indian Rock Scene has to offer. The very first compilation was released in 2007 and featured 18 tracks by bands such as Medusa, Half-Step Down, Skinny Alley, Split, The Superfuzz, Something Relevant and many more!
Take a look at the bands that feature on Stupid Ditties II :
1. 21st Rebel Street (Chandigarh)
2. Aftertaste (Bombay)
3. Anus The Menace (Chandigarh)
4. Fire Exit (Delhi)
5. Five Little Indians (Kolkata)
6. Lounge Piranha (Bangalore)
7. Medusa (Bombay)
8. Rainbow Bridge (Chennai)
9. Rosemary (Bombay)
10. Split (Bombay)
11. The Scavenger Project (Delhi)

I agree with the metal fixaton thing. While I have no doubt there are people out there who genuinely love and play metal for because the like it, there are also a lot of wannabe toughboys/wankers who want to be in the metal scene so
1. They can release their pent up emoish frustration with the world rather than facing it like a man (or a woman, lest I be called sexist)
2. They can shw everybody they’re tough guys, and not “pink wearing homos” -with black t shirt + goatee + wild hair
3. Can play fast stuff crappily with 100 wrong notes a song or something BUT fast. We’re technically awesome. Look - 47 notes per second. What do you mean it’s out of scale?
Where are the really good alternative acts who are proud of what they play and play it well, on par with international acts in terms of creativity? Where are the REAL fusion acts? Sorry but putting in a tabla and a guitar together doesn’t count as fusion. Where is the creative mind twisting prog rock? More importantly where are the songs that you sing and will stay with you for your life, the kind of songs you know are so honest because the writer bares his soul there and the melodies and hooks so strong that you just want to leave them on repeat forever? ALl we get are apologies in the name of OCs, half baked, shallow and crudely planned outlines. No great lyrics, no amazing melodies, no Energy in the tradition of Beatles, LedZep, Who, Queen, Floyd, The Boss, Bob Dylan, Black Sabbath - with Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, U2, RHCP? Its easy to laugh at, say Elton John, and call him a pussy pop sell out, but can any of these swaggering wannabes put out a cohesive album that’s half as good even his crappier stuff? Sure we love these start up bands live, but how many of their songs would we really listen to in our cars when we’re stuck in a traffic jam? The fact is that all the hype notwithstanding, we have way to few bands who can put out good original albums that are well produced. Our Music scene isn’t even in the baby stage yet. And as far as the live scene is considered, it was as good if not better in the 70s.

Yeah
