Sultan Khan and Lakha Khan to perform together

Two of the greatest Sarangi players of all time, Ustad Sultan Khan and Lakha Khan Manganiyar are set to collaborate on stage at the NCPA on the 12th of December. The union of the legends was to take place earlier this year at Jodhpur, but the event was called of due to some unforseen circumstances.

The event would be a treat for both lovers of Hindustani classical and folk music, as the fusion of the two forms of music at such high levels of visibility would indeed be something to die for. Though both the musicians are essentially Sarangi players, they completely differ in their styles, techinque and approach owing largely to their different schools of learning.

The Ustad has been quoted as being very excited about the collabaration, and is very anxious as to the outcome on stage which could either be splendid or somewhat of a let down. It seems the Ustad is too humble to recognise his own brilliance.
