Legendary rockers Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey of the the 60s british supergroup The Who are to perform a rare acoustic set on Sunday 13th April at the Royal Albert Hall, London, to benefit teenage Cancer Trust. The Who as a band were wildly influential, and have shaped much of what we today know as rock. Their music was a rare combination of profound, socially conscious lyrics and hard hitting, technically amazing, blues based rock with a peppering of good old British sarcasm.
From a band that pioneered the use of stacked amplifiers and was the loudest band till Deep Purple came along, an all acoustic set is bound to be a rare treat for its die hard fans.
Teenage Cancer Trust is a British charity that focuses on the needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer, leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and related diseases by providing specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals. Apart form the current series of fund raising concerts, it is also planning another awareness raising campaign in England, that uses music to raise awareness of teenage cancer as well as highlighting the ongoing appeal to raise funds. The Trust can be contacted at www.teenagecancertrust.org
