Toto Awards 2009

In it’s fifth year of existence, the TOTO awards have gained, and continue to gain immense popularity amongst bands and individual musicians alike! For those of you who are unaware of what these awards are all about, here’s something that could help:

  The TOTO Funds The Arts (TFA) is a non-profit, public charitable trust set up in the memory of Angirus ’ Toto’ Vellani, a man who was extremely passionate about the Arts, breaking that up — -Music, Literature and Film. So this year, TFA in association with Counter Culture Records and The Onstage Foundation invites entries for the 5th Annual TOTO Awards! TFA has evolved to become a concept over the past five years, providing a platform for musicians and bands to be heard and judged by only the best in the field. The competition is open to all genres of music and also to any genre that is yet to be “born”. Your music needn’t be in English or Hindi. It can be in any language.

  Judge’s from the past include Vishal Dadlani (Pentagram,Vishal-Shekhar), Raghu Dixit (Music Director and Vocalist), Luke Kenny (VJ,Actor) and Arjun Sankalia (GM,International Repertoire,Sony BMG). Some of the best Indian artists and bands have received the award, namely, Myndsnare (2005 winners), Demonic Resurrection (2006), Lounge Piranha (2007) and very recently, Shafeli Alvares (2008).

Listed below are the details for sending in your entries:

APPLICATION PACKAGE :

0.Two copies of your ORIGINAL music as Audio CD’s (or wav files)

0.Each CD must be labeled with the artist name, contact details and track names. Send in about 3 — 5 tracks.

0.A signed statement confirming:

0.The applicant’s date of birth.

0.The names of any previously released singles/CD’s.

0.That the submitted work is original.

0.Applicant’s contact information, including telephone and cell phone numbers, E-mail and postal address.

0.Applications should be submitted to:

TOTO FUNDS THE ARTS, H 301, Adarsh Gardens, 8th Block, 47th Cross,  Jayangar, Bangalore - 560 082.

ELIGIBILITY:

• The award is open to all Indian nationals resident in India (no nris)

• You must NOT be over 30 as on January 1, 2009

• The spirit of the TFA Awards is to identify and encourage

young talent. Therefore, please do not submit an entry if your

music has received a commercial contract

• Entries can be in any language

• Submissions should be 100% original

And now for the prizes!

The winner of the award has two options:

     1.The Rs. 50,000 cash prize (to be used towards your music)

OR

     2.   A complete record deal from CCR+ a music equipment voucher from On-Stage Music (India’s high quality music equipment store worth Rs. 15,000 ! The record deal includes recording and releasing your debut album across India! 

PLEASE NOTE: The last date for receiving entries is 7th October 2008.

People above 30 not eligible ? What a crap ! Imagine if Grammy awards had put up a condition like this ..
