India’s favourite Ustad, Zakir Hussain has won the Grammy Award in the category of Contemporary World Music Album, for his collaboration with Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart. The two great percussionists aptly titled their collaborative album “Global Drum Project”.
The album was a follow up to the well received 1991 album “Planet Drum”. The album also featured artists from Africa and South Africa in addition to the two great musicians.

Zakir Hussain is the Bee’s Knees when it comes to the tabla. He is performing at Prithvi on 26th and 27th Feb. It’s a shame I am unable to go for it, partly due to a state of bankruptcy.
