Red House
Appearing on his breakthrough debut album Are You Experienced, ‘Red House’ features some of the most emotive blues licks ever put on record. The song would later become one of Jimi’s concert favorites, as he would often extend the song well beyond the original four minutes, improvising on stage.
Fire
It’s almost impossible to hear fire and not picture Jimi lighting up his Stratocaster on fire, on stage. The songs title summarizes Jimi’s music as a whole, fiery.
Little Wing
‘Little Wing’ was one of Jimi’s most delicate and most melodic tracks, but it is also one of Jimi’s finest hour. The track is one of the toughest songs to replicate, and is testimonial to Jimi’s creativity and zest to go beyond the pre tested.
All Along The Watchtower
It’s hard to call the track a Bob Dylan cover, cause it’s all Jimi Hendrix. Very few cover songs are so farfetched from the original and yet brilliantly executed at the same time. Jimi took Dylan’s acoustic masterpiece and turned it into his own.
Spanish Castle Magic
Spanish Castle Magic was one of Jimi’s finest tracks, but at the same time it also one of Jimi’s most overlooked numbers. The track has a very heavy sound, specially for it’s day with an irresistible main riff.
Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Not Sweet Child Of Mine, not Smoke On The Water, not Highway To Hell. It is this timeless track by Jimi, that inspired some of the greatest guitarist around the world to pick up their guitars and turn up the gain. Jimi Thou Art Great!!
Machine Gun
Many would agree that Machine Gun would be The greatest Jimi Hendrix track of all time. Appearing on the album Band of Gypsys, the bands performance of this track is beyond belief. The whole track comes together so brilliantly. The anti war lyrics, the mutted machine gun mimicking riff, the extended lead solos all come together perfectly.
