Judas Priest - Greatest Songs II

Judas Priest - Greatest Songs IIBy the 1980s, Judas Priest had already made their mark as one of the greatest rock/metal bands of all time. During the following decade, the band would reach the height of their popularity and with it a lot of radio airplay. The metal crazy fans of the 80s just couldn’t get enough of the British legends. Here we swim back in time, to recall some of their best numbers from the decade…

Breaking The Law

An all time Priest favourite, the song has frequented the list of top metal songs of all time in various publications. The song’s popularity would stretch the band’s presence to movies, sitcoms and videogames, well beyond the confinement of an album disc.

Metal Gods

“Metal Gods” always manages to turn the hands of time back to an age where getting lost in the music was everything, where musicians had the nuts to get lost in their creative density rather than being constrained by third party opinions.

Bloodstone

“Bloodstone” is one of Priest’s least fanciful songs, but it is at the same time one of their most enjoyable ones. The band used a simple driving beat, to push the best out of a simple set of combination.

The Hellion/ Electric Eye

The hair rising instrumental piece “The Hellion” ropes in the Judas Priest masterpiece “Electric Eye”. Out in 1982, the track helped pushed the band’s popularity to atmospheric levels. With an unforgettable opening riff and of course the unmistakable vocals of Mr. Halford, the track would classify as one of the band’s finest ever.

Jawbreaker

Rob Halford was (and still is) literally worshiped within the metal fraternity, and for good reason too. “Jawbreaker” sees Rob shift from one voice to another with the least bit of fuss, along with a really good example of Rob’s echoing vocals.

The Sentinel

Glenn Tipton and KK Downing together left a permanent mark on metal music, having a humongous influence on how guitarists of the genre would approach their music. “The Sentinel” is one of the greatest examples of the teamwork of the awesome duo.
